Now this was a very unusual book!

This is the last installment of the series and couldn't really be better.

I enjoyed very much that all the main characters of the previous books appeared once again, however, the absolute highlights of the book were the two main characters. Firstly, I liked the fact, that Luke and Emily are a bit older than the usual heroes and heroines of military romance. Although Luke was described in previous books as the absolute alpha male, the author managed very successfully to appear him in a different light in this book. His feelings for Emily were so deep and true that I was more than once deeply moved.

Emily was great. The way she tries to cope with her disease, the ups and downs, the way she feels that she might be running out of time, allows the reader to identify herself with the heroine, especially because her medical condition is somehow always present in any female brain.

Absolutely adorable was the fact how Luke helped her to overcome her shyness and tried to make her feel at ease with herself (sizzling sex scenes incl.). If this isn't true love I wonder what is!

These parts of the book were so "rich" that I would have preferred if the military part would have been reduced to as less as possible. Luke presented himself with such depth that I thought anything that has to do with his alpha male image destroyed this absolutely wonderful image. What a man!

Absolutely recommendable!
I feel like I've been on a journey with this Suspense series. Right from book 1 with Rayne and Christa's book I've been waiting for Book 5 to see how things would be sorted with Luke and Em. This book like the series really puts you through the wringer. I've enjoyed all the books in the series but this one specifically was quite emotional. In common with the rest of the series, it has the catastrophic error in judgement shown by the hero this, jeopardizing the heroine's life, but it really is about Absolution and forgiveness as the title says. One thing I love about Kaylea Cross' series is that no characters (except some of the heroines) are cartoonish. Even with the overarching criminal terrorist mastermind, you're given an insight into the way they think as opposed to just simplifying it like other authors to be that they're bad because they are. Tehrazzi in this series is an example of that but Kaylea Cross has done this in other series too. This doesn't mean you sympathize with the villain but it makes the story richer even as you root for the hero.

I get the impression that this is an earlier series of Kaylea Cross and I definitely feel like I've enjoyed her more recent series more. However this series was still a fantastic 4-4.5 stars out of 5. I've now read all her books available on and Kaylea Cross has definitely become my favourite in this genre.
I thought the last book was my favorite but I was wrong! Luke and Emily's story is the best all of kaylea's other books!!!
Luke left Emily years earlier because he almost killed her. Luke believed that he had to leave to keep Emily and his son safe. He never stopped loving her. She tried to have other relationships but Luke was her soul mate! During their sons wedding in the previous book Luke fainted and was rushed to the hospital, Emily was right there w him. When he woke up she had left and he knew something was wrong.
When their story started she was getting ready for surgery.
Everyone in Lukes team knew that Emily was his life and when bryn found out about Emily's condition she contacted him and said Emily needs u! He went straight there and told her she was coming w him and he's keep her safe. She said, "NO" I'm staying here, I can't fight w u anymore. No
One says no to Luke! She went and almost died trying to save Luke!
Must read!! Best of all of cross's books! I wish she'd write a small book letting the readers know how everything turns out!! Loved it!! I never give 5 stars or even write reviews anymore! Gave the last 2 books 5 stars and wrote a review!!!
